Dear Members

Happy Diwali!

Diwali is the Indian 'festival of lights', a holiday that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. This year, Diwali is being celebrated on November 14th. Though technically religious, it’s also become a cultural event that’s celebrated with sweets and special foods.

Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it is now vital to limit social contact and avoid gathering. For that reason, we made the difficult decision to cancel the Diwali event this year, which was scheduled for November 7th. We care about your safety and wellbeing. We hope you can understand the steps we’re taking to help keep our community safe. Although the pandemic may have brought a halt to large congregations and Diwali gatherings, that doesn't mean that spirits should be dampened.

In lieu of this event, please light a candle for reflection and respect of the loved ones lost by our community members. Words cannot express the tremendous fear and grief everyone in the world is experiencing. The India Club Executive Committee mourns the tragic loss of the lives and injuries caused by this pandemic, and our deepest sympathies go out to the community members, who have lost someone in their family or a dear friend. At the same time, we commend the heroic actions and courage of the frontline workers and volunteers, and pray for their safety. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

Now is a time for personal reflection; a time to step away from the ‘beaten track’ of life to reflect upon one’s spiritual journey as an individual and also as a family; and, importantly, a time to help and serve – to bring the light of Diwali to the hearts of others. During the holidays, please stay at home to create special moments with your families.

We miss you, and we’re looking forward to a time when we can connect in person again. At the same time, we have been brainstorming ideas to adjust to the virtual changes to keep everyone safe. If you have any questions or would like to see any specific resources in the coming months, don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

Just like the colors of Rangoli, we hope this Diwali brings new smiles, undiscovered avenues, different perspectives, and unbound happiness. Have a wonderful Diwali!

Thank you for being a part of the India Club of Greater Dayton community, and thank you for supporting India Club and the Dayton community as a whole. Please enjoy these virtual Diwali wishes from a few members of our community

Stay home, stay safe, and stay strong.

Yes, the level of elementary level varies from a first grader to 5th grader. Therefore, there has to be further bifurcation or change in the kind of questions asked especially in Quiz.
