Baal Sabha and Youth Activities Update

Dear parents,

Welcome to Baal Sabha 2011. It is my privilege to be involved in your child’s life through the India Club of Greater Dayton.  Here is my vision of activities for the youth ages 5-18 years old for this year:

For children Kindergarten through Grade 6, we will meet once a month for two hours. During this time, your children will be introduced to Indian culture through the eyes of Indian heroes, both current and from generations past.

As for youth 7th grade and above, I would love for them to take an active part in planning and organizing the sessions for the younger kids. This will give them a chance to foster new friendships and mentor younger children. Chances to participate will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. We will record the volunteer hours and ensure the kids get credit for their community service

In addition to the above, youth members (grades 7-12) will also have the opportunity to participate and serve the larger community in Dayton through several organized activities. Tentative plans include Hannah’s Treasure Chest, Food Bank, St. Vincent’s, Battered Women’s shelter, Peace museum, Community gardens, Habitat for Humanity, mission trips etc.

In the summer, we will plan social events for teens such as a yoga camp, 5k races, Americana and Children’s parades, Dance etc.

There is no fee for member’s children to participate in Baal Sabha this year.  Non-members will be charged $20 per family to participate.

Please contact me through our website or write directly to me at baalsabha@indiaclubdayton.org to learn more or sign your children for Baal Sabha and Youth activities. I am looking forward to a great year.
